Structural cactus with frenzied, papery spines shooting from green tubercles. Pale wool grows at the areoles. A bright yellow flower blooms from its center during spring and summer months. Leuchtenbergia principis can grow up to 25 inches in height and in maturity can form a small yet notable caudex. This plant has a taproot. Native to central Mexico.
