Pachypodium Lamerei 'Madagascar Palm'
Though not a real palm, this tree succulent’s sharp resemblance to a palm and even sharper spines makes it a unique houseplant. Planted in the ground, this plant can grow up to 20 ft. tall. Semi-deciduous in winter and prone to off-setting and growing arms. Mature plants bloom white flowers in summer. Found in Madagascar. Available in 2 sizes. Plant shown is in 6 in. pot and roughly 1.5 ft. tall.
Care:
Partial shade to full sun
Water once a week in spring and summer
Keep dry in winter; or if kept indoors and heating system is used water once a month
Allow soil to dry between waterings; never let the roots sit too long in wet soil
Well-draining soil; cactus/succulent mix
Protect from frost and cold nights
If you live along the coast the plant might require less watering if kept outside
